Jessica Poundstone x Work in Progress

Drawing from the Light and Space movement, Portland, Oregon–based artist Jessica Poundstone’s vivid, digitally conceptualized prints have sparked two graphic rug styles for L.A. design collective Work in Progress—the sibling brand to the agency Denvir Enterprises. The pigment-rich flat weave rugs, available in five colorways across two patterns, illuminate Poundstone’s flair for layering stripes. With an assist from ethical sourcing platform Nomadory, the cotton flooring coverings are sustainably produced in Bhadohi, India, each handwoven and hand-dyed by a third-generation family-owned business. w-i-p.la

Color As Comfort, My Very First Solo Show, Is Up at Rare Device in San Francisco Through January 16!

Color As Comfort, my very first solo show, is now up at Rare Device in San Francisco!

Here’s my artist statement about the show:

“I love that surrounding ourselves with images and objects we love is a way to create our own personal support system of symbols. As we build our collections over many years, each piece — whether it’s a piece of art or a rock from a sidewalk in Paris — has the power to create and store fond memories, good vibes, and positive energy.

My highest hope is that my work — which is primarily about exploring how color can make us feel — will be part of the self-care practice of bringing beauty and meaning into our spaces. I want my work to be a continuous source of joy, playfulness, and meaning for my collectors. Color as comfort.

In addition to showing my fine art prints, I’m also thrilled to share new original works — paintings and art objects I’m calling totems. Both have small footprints and big hearts :)”

It’s so awesome to me that my first show would be at Rare Device. The first time I went to the store was in 2007, which wasn’t so long after Rena Tom, who I “knew” from Flickr, had opened it. It’s been a special, can’t-miss-a-visit-when-I’m-in-SF place to me ever since. I’ve loved watching the magic that Lisa Congdon and now Giselle Gyalzen and Rachel Robertson and team have created. I’m honestly still pinching myself that this is all real and actually happening.

If you are in San Francisco I hope you’ll swing through and experience the magic for yourself - and hopefully enjoy the show!!!

If you’re interested in snagging some work from the show even if you’re not in San Francisco, you can shop the Rare Device website! Thank you team Rare Device!!!!! ✨🙏✨

Jessica Poundstone: Artist In Residence at Paper Epiphanies - Opening Party Friday 10/8!

When Victoria, founder of the truly gorgeous and extremely awesome Paper Epiphanies asked me to be the very first artist in residence for the month of October, saying “YASSSSSSS!!!!!” was a no brainer.

We're having an opening party tomorrow, Friday 10/8 to celebrate and you're invited! We'll be hanging out from 3-7pm - there will be wine, awesome stuff and good vibes galore. (Paper Epiphanies is at 2501 SE Clinton Street.) I’ll also have a handful of my “Here For You” books, originals, mini-prints and other exciting stuff you can see/touch/feel in person!

Can't make it or don't live near here? You can still shop Paper Epiphanies online, and the cards Victoria writes are like if your BFF had been a standup comedian, and she's writing all of your cards for you. (It's like that because that's Victoria's deal, she is amazing.)

Hope to see some of you there tomorrow, but stop by anytime this month to see a bunch of my work in person!

Jessica Poundstone for UPROOT^D : Gorgeous and Super Functional Pegboards!

Look at these gorgeous pegboards!!!! So honored to have been asked by the UPROOT^D team to collaborate on these, because who doesn't need an arty background for their “I just got home” stuff or their “above the changing table” stuff or their “random bits and bobs” stuff? These make allllll that stuff look rad.

Large Kinetic Styled.jpg

I have been SO IMPRESSED with the love and care and sweat (and let’s face it probably tears but they didn’t let on) the UPROOT^D folks put into making their vision for these a reality - prototyping, trying different art, sanding things down when they didn’t work and trying again until everything met their standards which, y’all, are VERY HIGH.

If you need one of these in your life, head over to the UPROOT^D website and snag it, because there's a limited first run of these! Thanks once again to all the amazing folks involved in this collaboration!
