A BIT ABOUT ME…
Hello and welcome! I’m Jess, an abstract artist living and working in Portland, Oregon (the Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood in SE if you know the city). I’m so glad you found me!
I believe art is part of a self-care practice that changes the way we see, think & feel — and ultimately changes us! I love that beauty is inherently hopeful. It celebrates the best of what humans can be and do, and connects us to the realm of the deeply true.
I’ve always made art, but started my full-time practice in 2020 (yes, that 2020, haha) after a 20-year career as a writer and editor. My hope is that my pieces serve as a visual invitation, a portal, a totem: a way of reminding us of what’s possible, and helping us get more deeply attuned to the joy, fun, adventure and wisdom that comes with exploring who we are and who we can become.
ABOUT MY WORK
Informed and inspired by color sensation, minimalism and “light and space” art movements, my work explores the way art affects us emotionally, combining color, structure and softness to create a space for contemplation, comfort and connection.
I create the artwork for my fine art prints on a touchscreen with my fingers. The techniques I've developed over many years working digitally are a hybrid of painting, screenprinting, drawing and collage. I then print the images using pigment inks on thick, 100% cotton, acid-free fine art paper. Each of my pieces is an original work; the completed pieces are completely archival. See my FAQs for more info!
My paintings live on birch panels or canvas; I use acrylics, gouache and flashe.
I have partnered with some lovely companies to create fantastic surface designs and products as well. Want to explore a partnership or licensing? Get in touch!
I hope you enjoy your time here — reach out with questions anytime!
